HAE and mental health

Managing your mental health could not be more important to help your HAE. Reducing anxiety can help to reduce not just the frequency of attacks but also the severity. We also encourage you to

  • Carry your rescue medication with you at all times so that you are never worried about having an attack and not being able to take action
  • Do not wait to take your medication hoping that the first signs are not going to manifest into a full attack. Take your medication as soon as you feel the first indications of an attack: in the long term, not taking your treatment when you should may mean having to take a second dose and having a worse attack
